Neuron BPh won the Award “Seal of Innovation” 2009 awarded by the Spanish Association of Technological Parks (APTE) at its annual meeting, held in ESADECREÁPOLIS in Barcelona.
During the Closing Ceremony of the VII APTE International Conference the President of the Association, D. Felipe Romera, presented the Award in the category Best R&D Company to Neuron’s founder and its CEO, Dr. Fernando Valdivieso and Dr. Javier Velasco.
This award, supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, rewards Neuron’s efforts on innovation as well as the wide number of collaborations the company has established to carry out its activity.
Neuron BPh was born as a spin-off company of Dr. Valdivieso’s Research Group in order to profit from several patents registered by them at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
The company is located at Granada’s Health-Science Technological Park, where the company has facilities of 400 m2 and employs more than 30 people distributed between the company’s two research divisions: Neuron BioPharma, focused on the discovery and evaluation of nutraceuticals and drugs to prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases, specially Alzheimer’s disease; and Neuron BioIndustrial, dedicated to develop bioprocesses applicable to various commercial areas, such as pharmaceutical, chemical, agro-food and biofuel industry.
This award joins the several prizes and awards granted to Neuron since it started its activity in 2006, such as the Andalusian Award for Excellence granted in 2009 by the Andalusian Regional Government.
